Act II Analysis

Act II Analysis

After reading Act II we are all anxiously waiting to finish "A Doll's House". Act II opens up with Mrs .Linde  thinking Nora has borrowed the money from Dr. Rank but us readers know she borrowed it from the disreputable Krogstad. I think it was fortunate for Nora that Mrs. Linde found out the truth because she got help on the predicament she was in. Mrs. Linde just happened to be old lovers with Krogstad so therefore she could 'help' Nora. I found it ironic how Helmer and Krogstad used to be old friends too, this is a reason why he cannot go back on his word of firing Krogstad.
A major thing we find out in Act II is that Dr. Rank confesses his secret love for Nora and since he confessed his love for her, she did not want to ask him for a favor and take advantage of him. I'm surprised Nora did not take advantage of him because usually she tries to get any money she can get her hands on. When Nora was talking about dancing the tarantella she was flirting back with Dr. Rank, Nora says "and tomorrow you will see how beau- tifully I shall dance, and you can imagine I am doing it all for you—and for Torvald too, of course"(Ibsen). Nora is acting like such a little thottie in this scene.(T/T) At the end of Act II Nora says "thirty-one hours to live"(Ibsen 206). Nora is going to kill herself! Do you agree with her choice!?
In the beginning of Act III Mrs. Linde says "There was a time when he would gladly do any- thing for my sake"(Ibsen 202). Us readers think Mrs. Linde is somehow going to persuade Krogstad in a jauntily manner to help Nora out. Although we find out that she actually backstabbed her so called 'best friend'! How do you guys feel and did you think Mrs. Linde was going to do this to her friend? It is so ironic how Nora is helping Mrs. Linde get a job while Mrs. Linde is throwing Nora under the bus (T/W). You never no who you could trust!

That's an interesting analysis of Ms. Linde. But I think she is Nora's true friend and is trying to the best for her. Nora and Helmer have too many secrets between them. It's really best that the both know the truth.
